Our Story

The Collectin was started by Alden Ehrenreich and Zoe Worth in 2009. Alden was directing Zoe in a play when the two actors began discussing a creative process in which films and performances might be built around the specific qualities of an actor.

With this actor-based creative process in mind, Zoe and Alden started The Collectin, while attending New York University. Using weekly workshops with actors, writers and directors, the group experimented with new techniques for writing and performance, creating 6 original plays and 5 short films during their time in New York. All of these works were tailor-made to the strengths and unique qualities of the actors performing. In December of 2010, writer/director Melanie Shaw used this approach to create The Collectin’s first feature film, Running Wild.

Now primarily based in Los Angeles, The Collectin continues to meet for weekly workshops, practicing this tailor-made-idea while making films, and performing monthly at Three Clubs Cocktail Lounge in Hollywood.

The Collectin currently focuses on creating feature films and producing live theater, all birthed from within this intimate creative community.
